OutEast

The Eastside community, or OutEast as it is referred to by its residents, faces many of the common problems afflicting Black communities around the nation: gentrification, income inequality and crime. At the start of my internship at the Times-Union, I began to explore this community and got to know its leaders, members and its history. Understanding how the community got here was not the main drive of the work. Rather, I was focused on the future of this once thriving neighborhood. The project is currently ongoing.
